The roads are totally different to track. Get used to the car properly first.

Surely you're not advising him to get to know the cars limits on a public road?

A track day is the perfect way to find the limit, not on some country back roads

When did I say exceed the speed limit or drive it to an inch of its life.

He picked up the car just today and is far from knowing the cars limits.

A track day is only good if the person is actually comfortable within the car and knows exactly what its capable of.

Nonsense, the first time I drove a Ford Puma on tarmac was from the paddock to the pits.

Is your car just and only a track car though? There's a difference. If he has the confidence from being on the road, its a total difference experience on track IMO.

I've not done that much track driving either.

I would consider them more closely related. There are a great many people take it easy on track days, particularly if they're not used to it or it's their main car.

You don't need to go balls out. In fact I would guess the odds of a fault accident on a track day if you're taking it easy are very slim.

Obviously if you go out there in a car you don't know and go faster than you can cope with, you will crash massively. I just don't think the crashing is compulsory.

Ians right, i was shitting it on my first outing!

Second time round i knew my cars and most importanly my limits more! Basicly if you drive like a knob your going to be on the back of that low loader getting cheers from the crowd because you just stacked your car 2 laps in!
