rite. i'm just gonna get one or the other. Money reasons. If its a backbox i'll want a stainless steel one wiv lifetime guarentee, so im figuring that'd be about £110 quid. If its a induciton kit that'll set me bak bout £70 ish. What would give me the best power/noise increase? What would you lot do?

I'd go for the induction kit. My K&N makes more moise than my full zhorst system with a de-cat pipe.

I would have thought the induction kit would give you more power but you might not notice it.

If you are going for looks get the back box.

it depends what u want to be honest like he says if u want looks the backbox is the best option dont know what the quality will be for 70 notes though mine was 160 just for the backbox but if u want sound defo the induction kit - gives you plenty of sound when I took mine out I couldnt believe how much sound I actually lost

Get a backbox and modify airbox by puttin some 40-50mm holes down left side and run a cold air feed up from behind bumper

if i were on a budget i would get a mild steel back box (about £70???!!)...and then id buy a pannel filter (about £25?!), and dril some holes in the airbox housing.

a mildsteel backbox should last u at least 2 years!!! they have about a 2or 3 year garentee depending on the make...but will u have the car in 2 years time? so u may be doin urself a favour buy getting wat i serggest!

Dont bother with induction kits. Just drill your airbox and then spend your pennies on a backbox.

Thats ok then. As long as its not one of the 1.2/1.4 8v's. They dont like induction kits at all.

Yeah which model do u have? I stuck a 57i kit on my 1.2 8v and it hasn't made that much difference at all. Theres a bit more poke right at the top of the rev range but thats all. The noise has changed a little but again not as much as my last car which I just whacked a backbox on.

A BFO on a 1.4 or 1.6 16v makes it sound like a Scooby! No back box (unless you drill that ) will make half the noise!

i've got a 1.2 8v and i've got a stainless steel backbox. like philly said it only sounds decent when it has warmed up. i'm also a bit unsure as what to do about my air filter. i've got money but what should i do induction kit or panel filter and drilled airbox? cos i don't know what would be best for noise.
