when i finish my corsa turbo project i want to get a trailer to move it around and maby earn a bit of cash to, had a look on the internet and cant seam to find out if i can tow it on my licence. i got my licence in feb 2006, the towing car will be my vectra c(or something the same size) and i will be towing my corsa b let.


the trailor i will be looking at is something like the following

You can't afaik.

750kg is the limit, Ian knows all about it.

on a post 97 licanse all you can tow is 750KG no matter what car you are towing with.
if you add a +E onto the B that you have you can tow up to 3500KG as long as the car can tow that much
Adding a +E to your licanse will cost about £400 and you will need to do a thory and practiacl test.

Legaly you would not even be able to tow that trailer with anything on it because the it goes by the limit of the trailer is 2000KG, the weight is always calculated on MAN which is basicully the max values of car and trailer

I am in the prosess of upgrading my licanse to a C1+E so that i can drive the wagon and a trailer. with a C1+E the total train can be up to 12000KG with a wagon weight no more than 7500KG

Were are you located? there will be loads of driving schools around you that will do it for you.

And as AK says if your going to try make some money off doing this you will need the correct insurances and a CPC on your driving license as well which allows you to make money from driving, this needs to be done every 5 years.
you will need public liability insurance as well

Dont think it will as that will just cover you to drive any car under the buisness not to pick up and deliver stuff but it would need to be looked into

No thats wrong
You can tow a trailer as long as the MAM of the trailer is less then 750KG and the car can tow more than 750KG as long as it dose not go over 3500KG

Category B: Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM and with up to eight passenger seats
Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.

so you'd need a trailer light enough so you don't go over, i suggest building your own with 1300kg single axle like i am.
so i can trailer the corsa and tow it with a suitable car.

yer your looking at Vehicles not Licanses 2 dif things:

"Category B+E allows vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM to be combined with trailers in excess of 750kgs MAM. In order to gain this entitlement new category B licence holders have to pass a further practical test for category B+E. There is no category B+E theory test. For driver licensing purposes there are no vehicle/trailer weight ratio limits for category B+E"

you fail,
thats if both added together are over 3.5 tonnes,
if they both come in under 3.5tonnes can drive on normal lisence.

if that was the case what is the point in a +E on the B?
And ill call up Chevron Training and tell them that they have it wrong as well

Also it what they are teaching on transport managers course's? So they are wrong, and the 2 local police stations traffic are all wrong? Some how I think not

fact is, to tow a trailer with a car on it, on a driving lisence passed after 1997, you have to take aditional tests.

it is a fact. you cannot tow an average size and weight car on a trailer on a lisence passed after 1997 if you havent done the additional requirments.
