Lad at works computer wont start, just comes up saying windows cant start because of System32 Drivers NTFS.sys

He doesnt wanna have to format it, is there anything he can do? wont start on safe mode either

Got the original OS disks or recovery CD's?. Might just need a repair to the OS or reinstallation of the OS. Don't have to wipe the date. Alternatively throw in another HD with Windows on, use the faulty one and browse/remove required files then format and repair that way.
