when somebody buys a superchip and installs it, do they need a remap?

No, it's already loaded up with new parameters. In reality, all I think they do is up the rev limit. To adjust the fueling and ignition you'll need a re-map.

ok cool, is it better to modify things like the inlet, exhaust, lifters before getting a superchip?

the ones i have read have adjusted timing and fuel tables also but quite mildly. In most cases just smooth the map out tbh.
