Hired the camper for PVS, £500 deposit paid to take it away. Returns it last week, 10am having run around all morning cleaning it up, emptying the fluids, fuelling it. Returned on time and was given the OK by the guy who met us on the day at the place.
Week on, still no deposit back, so I phoned them.
"Hi, Ian Griffiths here, we returned the van last week and don't have the deposit back yet."
"Yes, Mr Griffiths, you can't have it back. The bathroom was dirty, the toilet not emptied, the pans are missing, there's damage on the worktop, the rear blind is ripped, the cupboard handle is broken and you've smoked in it."
" ... *pause* ... Well. We didn't smoke it in it."
"Yes you did. The windows were open and there were air fresheners in there."
" ... *pause* ... I don't have air fresheners. And none of us smoke. And I watched it all weekend and no one else smoked"
"Yes you did" *gets nowhere*
"OK" let him have that one "What else did we break"
"The worktop has a hole in it"
"A HOLE?"
"Yes, a hole, the one I showed you when you dropped it off."
"You weren't there when I dropped it off"
*pause* * fumble*
"Is that Mr Griffiths from Chesterfield"
"No, Liverpool."
"Um.... Well.... let me find the paperwork."
"Tell you what, I'll give you 30 minutes find out where my £500 is."
*phone down*
5 minutes, phone rings.
"Mr Griffiths, the money is on the way. There are two Mr Griffiths'"
So glad I only have this bullshit for a little while longer.

That we'll be getting in a purpose built vehicle which is larger and better equipped, shortly before we need to leave, not driving for an hour to pick something up, only to have to clean it and drive for another hour to get it back the morning after a sleep-deprived weekend.
Oh and for correctness, it's Daves £500 not mine. If that is relevant to the story.

its not landed back in my account yet and im in chester tomorrow so if its not back by lunch i shall go get my £500 worth of fun out of the van like the other Griffiths did
