Not too close.. too much!

If its out of a can it will take ages to be hard enough to flat and polish.

Give it 24 hours and it will be dry enough to give a light rub with some fine grit.

The lacquer on my model Corsa that I painted about 3 or 4 weeks ago is still a bit soft

if you paint just the corners the bumper will look gash as you will have a lip and will be slightly off colour because of it. best thing to do is to start again. And if you get a run on it dont panic wait for it to dry and then flat and polish it. 1500 wet and dry paper. use it wet and use your hand evenly not just a finger. Did you primer it befor hand or just scotch it and paint? good effort tho

very dry on the bottom
the main reason people get a shite finish is because there scared to use the laqure and not putting the coats on wet enough
