as it ends you see her asleep as an old woman and the camera pans over to some old photos. then it fades out into her dream where she's back on the ship and meets dicaprio at the top of the stairs. i guess that means she's alive as she is dreaming. i just watched the ending on youtube btw.

The end of it the old bird goes to sleep and meets Di Caprio at the foot of the stairs aboard the Titanic so it's down to interpretation. My understanding is she died in her sleep but you could debate she was just dreaming.

could also be interpreted as being united in death. hence why they meet on the stairs.

Bugger, top of the stairs eh? Yes, that further supports it, kind of suggestive of going to heaven (stairs) and being reunited in death.

I had it in my head they met at the bottom but not bad from memory as I have to be pissed to endure that film!

I dunno, even if they did salvage it I'd never be sure if the seat is wet because of the sea or Rose started dripping it out of her clunge.
