finally convinced a mate ditch the saxo and go vaux , hes going to look at it tomorrow , is there any common faults , things need to look out for on these , cheers.

52 plate 70k miles

also has a courtney remap , what are peoples views on these? are they any good?

It will need the cam belt changing at 80k so best get saving as it costs a couple of hundred quid.

1.8 , good all round engine as far as i know, bit juicy compared to other manufacturers equivalen engines, my sis has the 1.8 astra hatchback sri, goes well.

One thing to note with vauxhalls i find is that they can be quite tappety, its not a fault its just how they are, just so you know when looking at one

juicy? hardley get between 380-425 miles to a tank with mine

good engine, not normaly tappy, no real common faults

so good i put on in my corsa b

Maybe ts just me but ui find vauxhalls to be tappety, not newer ones.

Fuel economy is not as good as equivalent 1.8s IMO, perhaps your a lucky one

well what do get to a tank?

my 1.8 corsa used to do 300, but this is slow so i dont bother going over 3k! im getting old

My 1.8 Cab is shit on fuel. There have been threads on here before about that engine. Plenty of people suffering from the same.

Mine is fine for power above 4k, I've only really done it once without realising, but it was dropping off at about 6k I thought. Not sure where the red line is though.

I would want to see proof of the re-map, courtenay dont really map NA cars, never heard of software for the 1.8 from them
