I'm just wanting to know if the valves will have been bent on a 1.4 16v because the timing belt has snapped?

They most likely will have its an interference engine mate.

Sorry mate but everyone on here would say the same, expensive job to do, you will definately have bent valves

so it would probably be cheaper to get a new engine.it's a gls on a R reg if that makes any difference?

If you can do the work yourself and source a new head then it might be ok but I don't know if you need new pistons, I cant help you that much as I dont know about bent valves etc but someone else on here might be able to help you mate.
