Its supposed to have the postcode and name of where you bought it from and a BS number in the corner I think. The ones we sell do anyway.

Need the Supplier & their Postcode on them
Halfords ones are ghosted, so you can't see the logo/postcode clearly unless up close - mine were from Halfords;
(the bottom pair)

I've just got totally plain ones, like the bottom ones above. Correct space & fonts size, etc. Never had a problem. Looks gay with someone's name on the bottom, etc. Not seen many cars with a postcode on them either tbh.

THE BRITISH STANDARD
The British Standard sets out the physical characteristics on the number plate. This includes:
•Visibility
•Strength
•Reflectivity
The British Standard also requires that a number plate must be marked with the following information: -
•The British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d)
•The name, trade mark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier. (The company who actually make the number plate.)
•The name and postcode of the supplying outlet. (The 'supplying outlet' is taken to mean a company whose business consists wholly or partly of selling number plates.)
•A non-reflective border and the Euro-symbol with the national identification letters are optional additions.
•There shall be no other markings or material contained on the number plate.

I used sellotape outdoor sticky fixers, google them, for use in all weather so they hold up well.

What actually matters is the age of the car, i am preety sure the rules listed above are for post 2000 cars.

I used this aswell, pretty strong. I ripped my plates off (as i needed new ones) and majority of the tape was still attached to the bodywork.
