Going on from another thread I saw... if I swap my parents regula rold Sky DIgital box for a Sky+ HD box (wires and dish already sorted), will Sky+ work off the bat or do they need a new viewing card? T

Putting in a Sky+ box where a regular box her been wont work (well, i think anyway)
When i got my Sky+ HD box installed (i dont actually have HD), the guy changed the cable running from the dish to the area where the box is.
So, i can't see it working...but i could well be wrong.

As long as there are two feeds coming from the dish that you want to put the Sky+ box with I can't see a problem?
Correct me if i'm wrong

You need to phone Sky and get them to pair the card with the box.
Is there only one Sky cable going to the current box? Sky+ needs 2, it will still function without 2 cables but recording functions won't work properly, IE you can basically only record what you are watching.

Also, due to the crappy signal on my 2nd feed, I have single feed enabled on my Sky+HD at my flat so suffer form only being able to record one thing at a time

Also i belive you wont be able to use any of the "plus" features unless you subscribe to sky.

If they have a sky box currently they probably subscribe to sky.

Putting a regular sky viewing card in a Plus box will not give access to the plus facility. You will be able to access the channels you subscribe to but no pause, rewind or record. Need to call them to get them to add the Plus bit (think its free now) if you wanted freesat (which is what i thought, got confussed with the other thread then you have to pay sky £5 a month i belive to use the plus.
