I believe so. There's a separate area for batteries at our local tip.

lead is worth fuck all anyway, I wouldnt say there is any more than a £5ers worth in the full weight of a battery

some one i know picks up old batteries from gold clubs and uni's.. £200 +- £50 a tonne dependig on price of lead.. Some fukers weigh over 30 kg...
