I've had this conversation a few times, and I've always said a manager should wear a suit.

Maybe because that's all he is qualified to do?

I dont understand why this guy gets so much credit, ok he got newcastle promoted, but so he should with that squad! One of their ball boy's could have got that team promoted... Oh Wait.....

Suit.

Managers that wear tracksuits remind me of Sunday League managers Its even worse when they wear a baseball cap - Tony Pulis!

I have to agree Suit looks better but I don't mind Pulis; at least its all corporately branded and he's always suited with the club tie on for the post match interviews

I can't remember who I heard say it but a manager that normally wears a tracksuit indicates they share the changing room/showers with the players, but a manager in a suit would normally rather have their own area.

I think it was Gareth Southgate who said it about one of his former managers.

I heard something fairly similar a few years back, saying that a manager that wears a tracksuit sees himself as "one of the lads" and is therefore probably better with the man-management side etc, wheras a manager in a suit is more of a 'thinker' and you'd expect him to be better with the tactical side of things.

Got to agree. Probably don't mind as much if it's Training or something, but if there is a match on, then it must be a suit.
