any one had a vw bora?

iv just got a new job which pays fairly well and im sick of driving bouncy cars, loud and battered corsa's so im looking at getting a nice golf mk4 tdi or bora tdi? which is the best 110,130,150?

i know nothing at all about these cars, but i want a diesel for the time being after getting 210 miles to £25 in the astra and theres still juice left

any opinions/info will be greatly appreciated

The PD engines in the VW's are supposed to be very good for gains on remaps if thats your thing. The 150 being the pick of the bunch IIRC

I got told to avoid the 150's when I was looking by a VW Technician!

They are ok cars, step up from corsa and very cheap to run!

Buy my 130!

130 is the best, with a map it will take it to about 165hp and just shy of 300lb ft

Ive just bought a golf mk4 53 plate gt tdi
130
Best thing ive bought, had enough of corsas.
500m+ on a tank and they have alot of poke with quite a bit of smoke

Stay well away from the Tdi150 as they suffer more from "chocolate cams" the followers were made from a softer metal than the cams so the cams ate through the followers then when its done the followers eat through the cams
The 130 doesnt suffer from this as much and they apparently revised it late 03 to a hardened metal, hence me buying a 53 plate!

test drive it
Power band is short but a simple remap sorts that out and make it better on mpg.
Mind though as a remap can increase the torque and if not driven properly can wreck the clutch and flywheel

It matters not about how you modded it it wasn't standard and thus you put a good 75% of potential buyers off. Whilst I personally loved the colour as it's not the norm it's not black or silver which are the most desirable and thus worth more colours. I didn't mean exactly double obv. Plus was his a dealers price?!

Yes J dealers price, 7 months tax (£60 6 months) new mot and 6 month warranty.
Diesels go for more, 130bhp 228lbs with an mpg av of 52 (68 on flat motorway) so im happy.
Also unless it was the petrol 16v 2l turbo the petrols are dog slow anyway.
Also why would i want a poverty spec slow diesel when i could have a decent spec quick diesel?
Mines a 53 and the mk5 are 04, in the end ive gone for what i want and im happy
