I've got teh chassis to paint on the truck and i refuse to spend £60 for 5L of hammerite.

Can anyone reccomend a cheaper alternative?

what about red oxide primer then standard paint over the top of it.?

See if some standard polyurethane paint is any cheaper. Good paint is pretty expensive stuff though.
