Currently looking at this:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201031365070480/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-from/3000/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/model/astra/make/vauxhall/postcode/sl18dd/radius/1500/page/1/keywords/gsi?logcode=p
As it seems reasonably cheap for the mileage etc. I know it has a shopping list along the skirts and a suspect exhaust system but its all removable.
Thoughts/Opinions? Its only 11 miles away from my house so may be worth a look? Insurance isn't bad at all on these just done a quote for me at 21 with 4 years no claims, came back at just under £1000 fully comp.

My mate gets good MPG with his when he drives sensibly.
Very nice and capable car especially with coillies and a diff.

I prefer the GSi over the coupe in terms of looks, and also the interior is nicer in the GSi I think?

I like mine, same car bar the bumpers and seats.
Goes well, handling is pretty good with a RARB and good suspension set-up, was shit standard.
Mine hasn't broken yet, 112k on the original turbo, which was still boosting fine, just a slight amount of leakage from the seals. Currently being replaced with a VXR item

Ok maybe a tad harsh.
Built like tanks (mine was anyway)
Seats werent the best, not as comfy as you would think. That could just be me though as everyone else seemed to love them.
Interior is dated and ugly
Drink fuel almost as bad as a 3.2l M3
lifeless steering
lifeless handling
no feedback
boring as fuck
mine was tuned, even then it still sent me to sleep when driving it
Purchased it loved it for about a month, then sold it 8months later due to it boring me to tears.
Boring boring boring.
Great if you go in straightlines/Mways alot. But then tbh you could buy something that would do the same job better and cost half as much
Look great though as standard. Really pretty car.

Ive had 5 of these! With the right suspension, rarb etc handle well enough for a vauxhall, seats are comfy imo. Drove over 1k miles to pv and back and seats was still comfy. The latest one has 420bhp and goes like fuck

By the way before this all kicks off again, people need to understand the difference between Handling and mechanical grip. The astra did well to not torque steer and take most corners with little complaint.
That doesnt mean that it wasn't as involving as playing gran turismo but in a car on the road. It was lifeless.
Its not a drivers car
However i would very much like to have a go in one that has 420bhp
