been asked to be an Usher at a wedding and the bride has chosen the suits etc. but then I'm told after I said yes that I have to pay the hire cost myself? Same with the bridesmaid's too. Live Lee's thread has just reminded me about this.

Now I don't know about anyone else but every other wedding I've been too the bride and groom have paid for hire or to buy the outfits for Ushers and Bridesmaids.

I'd be too embarrassed to ask other people to pay. What do people think about this? Its one of those situations where I've had to say no its fine don't worry about me having to pay to hire my own suit after you asked me to be an Usher at your wedding but really I'm pissed off about it

I know the wedding that the ex went to last week, she paid for her own Bridesmaid's dress, but the bride had wanted to pay however knowing how strapped for cash they were, Clare insisted she would pay for her own hair, make up, dress and shoes - dozy bint!

We get loads in the shops where they are expected to buy their own bridesmaids dress.

Personally, if I was asking people to be maids/ushers Id be expecting to pay for what they have to wear.

They say they are skint but to my mind if you are skint you dont go round doing un-necessary things like getting married.

If I ever get married I will be paying for bridesmaids and ushers outfits, doesn't seem right to ask them to stump up when its me that wants them to have those roles.

Aye and they are getting married at some posh country house type affair that will cost a bit. Although it is on the outskirts of Barrow if anyone knows Barrow then they'll know what I mean

We paid for all the suits/dresses etc for Ushers, best man, bridesmaids etc. Well actually my Father In Law did in the end. We were meant to be paying for them all but he just paid it for us when he went to get his fitted.
