not really anything to worry about apart from the usual. not sure about rust on these. my cousin has a 52 plate one and it's spotless, no rust at all on show.

SLOWWWWWWW lol if you can stretch to a RS mk1 or a ST they are great fun, im my opinion and i have driven both (and i own an st500) that the st gives you a bigger smile than the rs mk1
but the st170 is very good just not as quick as your astra turbo but worth getting look nice imo.

All of the above, but how much is he asking if you don't mind?
The 170s aren't bad cars, a friend of mine has one and it's quite pokey but still my idea of decent on fuel.

TBH I'm not sure what people are talking about, slow?
Slow is a 1.2 Corsa or 1.3 KA. I used to drive a 2.0 Zetec Focus and it was great fun. No it wasn't a rocket ship but it used to get up to speed pretty quickly and oh my fuck it used to handle.

yeah i kno what you mean pow, its far from slow, and it does handle rather well for a bigger sized car.

I wouldnt really call 1.3 Ka's slow tbh. They are pretty nippy around the streets.

My dad had a 54 plate one in Graphite Grey or something. I think they look really good and are a nice place to be inside, half leather and quiet interior, comfy but firm suspension. My dad didnt drive like some off here would, he loved just riding around in it and said it wasnt too bad on the juice in 6th at a sensible speed, but round town it isnt particularly great.
He bought his from a Ford garage, luckily he got 1 year warranty with it, because in that time all of the sensors were replaced, and so was the cat, twice, a cost he totted up to be around £1500 (dealer prices but still ).
Other than that, good cars I think, Ford seem to have sorted the 'rusty from the factory' arches normal Fords suffer from on these models

there are a few problems to look out for,
1 : when revving take it up to 3.5k and listen for a buzz this will ether be heat shield rotted through,
2 : flexi joint been bent more than 30* angle at some point,
3 : cat bracket has snapped.
4 : check for clutch pedal vibration as they got duel mass flywheels. best getting a solid flywheel conversion as the DM ones are a hefty price
everything else is typical checks. plus the 170bhp means there not slow and if you get bored then a cosworth kit can be bought taking the car over 200bhp still being N/A verry easely. i really wish i got one insted of the V6 vectra but insurance is a killer
