Okay went home in my lunch and quickly whacked on the OE air box, didnt know wot to expect cos i bought the car with the piper x on. Took it out for a spin. Oh my god the difference is astonishing. I seem to have gained a load more low down torque. Took it out on the M5 quickly and it seemed to wind past a ton a lot easy than normal. Of course it doesnt have as much grunt to the sound at high revs but im sure its pulling better.

I was informed that induction kits only work for a small number of cars anyway.

errrrm in case you aint noticed the majority dont drive pug106's tho??

anyone ever been on a R/R with airbox compared to an induction kit? With a corsa of course

Thats exactly what i found. At high rpm the kit does seem to make the engine breathe better and of course makes a nice noise, but its at the expense of low down torque. Lets face it your not on the track every day so low down torque is more desireable.

Try driling a few 12mm holes on the opposite side of the box to the engine, this I found gives a compromise between keeping the torque and still having an induction note.

i imagine the same applys to corsas, it made my old 1.2 8v flat as fuck

do u think a panel filter wuld be a better option at the moment its using a paper standard filter??

induction kit, i gonna get a panel filter and mod the air box, gonna add extra cold air feeds to the inside of box, and not bother drilling it.
Might fill it with ice every morning

IMO thats a far better way to go 3CM. I found this out after spending £150 on different kits.

its seem to make most sense, u want cold air and a smooth flow.
Induction kits r good at pulling in more air, but cos it hotter it isn't as dense.

I did about 6 or 8 at 12mm. The airbox on the 106 is longer tho and would take 6 on the rhs as you look at it and 2 or 4 on the front. Remember to drill below the line of where the filter sits.

dunno if it would for a pug 106

but on mine you cut the front of your airbox away

then just get a short piece of tumble dryer extractor pipe (you know the one i mean? its about 6-8 inch diameter!), and fit it directly behind the headlamp & attach it to the sides of the airbox.

there is enough cold air being forced in there for the engine.

My corsa, god rest its soul. But I can see the engine bay of a 106 in my head and six on the side and 2 infront wouldnt be a problem. Id even just do the 6/8 on the side coz the front may still pull in warm air if your not moving fast.

i gonna try 2.5 inch holes and ducting and maybe have one on each side of box, or maybe two on side nearest wing

I wouldny go as big as that as you run the risk of sucking in water particles to the paper filter or worse through the mesh of an afermarket panel filter into the inlet.
