I've been applying for jobs for the past few months with no success.

I had a first interview for Nespresso yesterday and may be invited for an assessment.

York Council have just contacted me about 2 full time vacancies they want filling asap

And the agency that employed me for Gamestation want me to start at Nestle on Monday for 3 months in the offices.

I would take any full time job offered, skipping from place to place filling in for a few months here and there would annoy me.

I mean accept them all as one is bound to fall through.

But yes, go with council work first. Once you are in as a civil servant you won't ever need to look for work again, easy life.

Not quite true, a lot of councils have moved to short term contracts for a lot of their positions. Friend of mine just finished working at a council down here doing admin work and he was on a 9 month contract. Once it was up, they'd advertise the job and he had to go through the whole interview process again. However he said it was easy work and no one really gave a monkeys.

Working for the Job Centre is also another one that's worth doing, especially if you get into the offices/processing application rather than customer facing.

My Father-in Law started workin for the Jobentre when he left school...didn't go to uni...he ended up running a job centre, then to cut a long story short, he worked his way up and is currently the National Director For Skills, working for the LSC. He's on a nice £100k+ salary. Cushty. Civil Service FTW

A ex mate of mine works for Liverpool City Council. They advertise the better jobs internally so each member can work their way up. It's an easy life, you can stick with what you do or try to better yourself. Local council's are now making cut backs though and some of those who sit back and do very little will struggle to find work anywhere else.

He's an ex mate due to spending 22k a year on booze and drugs

I had a bit of a shock on my first day. The manager said right we'll show you where you are then we'll get you on the phones, phones???!

Job was sold to me as Delivery Confirmation Clerk, filing all invoices, updating systems etc.

No one told me that drivers would be ringing me up to confirm deliveries and to tell us when places were refusing damaged goods etc!!! I had one driver yesterday who had 45 crates that no one wanted!
