why is this? We have a couple of local petrol stations where you pull up and they come out and fill your car up.

The one i went to last, the lady come out and she is in her 90's and still filling up cars.

She dragged herself across the forecourt got to my car and decided to rest her weight on my automatic rear spoiler, i wasn't too chuffed to say the least and felt bad about getting her to move, leaving her nothing to lean on

i haven't been there since and refuse to use that petrol station now

The last time I found a place like this it was on some random back road in cheddar, felt really odd, some old boy filling it up, handed over 20 notes and realized it must have been about 1.30 a litre

I've never seen this at all. Thinking it's maybe something to do with people driving off without paying.

What do you mean about rations though 3cm

I wish we had one of these, with a black petrol pump attendant wearing dungarees and boots with no toes.

I'm surprised you needed petrol, thought you could have just put some old banana skins and egg shells in to power the flux capacitor by the sounds of things

I thought they stopped doing this a long long time ago due to carcinogens in petrol, benzene etc.

If its still happening then i'd bet my house its not at any big franchise place, will be a small family owned place in the sticks where only 2 people call in a week!!

it is, a really small place, owned by these two old people in their 90's who have had it for many years, they don't even employ anyone.

i suspect if i kept using the place i would go in one day and they will be lying dead at the counter

Last time I went to an attended pump was in Hungary. We had a bit of a problem trying to convince the man that you could indeed get a Citroen C3 with a diesel engine...

Only time I experienced this was in St vincent, and 40 EC dollars was a full tank, which was about £10 at the time.
