Can anyone recommend a average-good set of decks/mixer and speakers...? I am new to all this but I really want to start getting into mixing....

I have no budget as of yet as I am looking to buy early next year! Thanks in advance!

If your just starting just get any mixer IMO.

Pioneer cd decks are cool bits of kit. Will find out what my friend uses tomorrow and report back.

Also consider MP3 decks, just run off iPod, mem stick or external HDD

All depends on how much your willing to spend. Pioneer CDJ2000 (or something like that) are the top of the range, but cost alot. I DJ at a rock/metal club and the decks there are Denon DNS1000's. Can pick them up for about £3-400 of ebay. Personally i have a rack mounted dual cheapy Gemini CD Deck, got it for pennies of eBay. Its nothing special, but plays CD's lol

This just add a HDD full of music and a cheapie mixer will get you going.

Have a pog at this. No point spending ££££ incase you dont really attach yourself to it, or you're just plain shite and will never get the hang of it

if you're just fooling around just buy a Hercules RMX mixer or something similar. Much less kit to cart about and simple to get up and running.

Depends how seriously your going to take it? My advice would be start digital, its cheaper. IF you find you have the patience to stick it out and learn it, and love your music upgrade from there.

I started out just over a year ago, saved for months and got 2 cdj 1000's and a djm 400, speakers for your room you wont need anything bigger then studio monitors, i went for alesis m1 actives. If you price that lot up on decks.co.uk or getinthemix its a lot..then you need unmixed music, at anything between 99p and 4 quid a track/ep, then CD's to burn them to..and then a cd wallet to keep them safe..oh and an external HDD to backup your expensive collection of MP3's..its all adding up.

Now iv stuck it out, allbeit nearly hating the things in the early days..im at the point where i can mix good, and now want another 1 or 2 decks to cue/mix faster and 4 ch mixer to hook it all up to so im considering a 2nd hand set of 1210 mk5's and Serato or Traktor. along with a djm 800
