Hi folks, just need a quick bit of help from you guys and girls, i bought a set of lowering shocks and the nut from my old shocks doesnt fit ontop of the new lowering shocks

, my father did say something about maybe being a fine thread or something?

Thought i would ask on here as guessing a quite a lot of you will probably know the answer to this straight away, got a few pictures below, dont have a clue what size etc the current nut is, this is where you can help me please.

Your standard nut should fit? sure the thread isn't cross threaded?

Well it goes onto the top of it but wont tighten down the bolt if you understand? What size should the nut be?

the bilsteins i got with my golf have a larger thread than my standard shocks so had to go b and q to get some nuts on my push bike

Normally M10x1

Your dad is right.

M10 standard is x1.5

Thanks, should be alrite on the nuts, dad is MD of an off the shelf assembly line with thousands of nuts, just didnt know what nut it was at home etc.

Shall tell him to bring some home, also another little question.

What should i have in the hole for the shock to go into if you understand, as the rubber on the new shock is very thin width wise and doesnt exactly fit the hole the old one used to, not sure if this will case banging going over bumps etc, so what did you all use for that?

Looks like theres a bush on there already, Will that come off?

Then replace with OEM?

You can remove that bush, but the standard bushs have a centre metal sleeve that is about 1mm too small to fit the rod of that shock iirc.

Just use the bushs you have and dont over-tighten them.

Okay so i bought some m10 x 1 nuts and they DO NOT fit

As soon as they get to the thread they become almost impossible to tighten any further!

try some brand new M10 standard nuts, you'll probably find that the old ones fucked up when you removed them.
