That's how i saw it with mine and how i see it with my VR6.
Provided i dont hit anyone i would fix the car myself anyway as parts for both are cheap enough and there's always some being broken etc. so not worth losing no claims over.

Also just amended my currenty policy with Quinn to TPFT and went to £714.04 with my no claims protected and £598.98 with out my no claims protected.
Is it worth protecting my ncb (4 years) works out just over a £100 extra to protect.

Should i just insure mine as a 1.6 sport even thou it was converted to a 1.6 over a year ago from a 1.2 8v breeze?
That what Quinn just did.
Tom are you FC or TPFT?

Hmm personally I wouldn't try getting quotes as 1.6 sport as thats bending the truth slightly, unless the company is happy to do that of course. Try phoning some more specialist companies mate. Brentacre are a fantastic company to deal with and would 100% recommend them They give you a BHP limit and you can do anything to the car for free as long as you don't go above it

i really don't get insurance, unless corsas are blacklisted as really likely to crash, or young lads in a corsa maybe.
i was shocked that the corrado was only £200 more to insure than my 1.4 corsa sport thats fully comp on a group 18 car, i was 25yrs when i sold corsa.
would be interesting to see people getting quotes on higher cost/higher performance/higher value cars

exactly, you don't have a massive amount to lose, also by the time insurance take their bit and argued through the accident you end up with not a lot of money and months of agro sorting it all out.
depends on the difference in premium i spose.
I insured the £150 fully comp iirc as i'm sure it worked out cheaper somehow (even more confusion)

For me to insure a 1.6 sport with air filter, exhaust system, alloys and lowered fully comp 2NCB - £1600
For me to insure a standard 2004 civic type r - £1600
Both these were done with me changing my DOB so im 21 and putting i had 2 NCB

I don't quite get your point - my car was worth £1000-1200 max.
If I pay an extra £100 to insure it FC, and then wish to claim, that'll cost me £400 in excess (using figures I had on last years quote).
I then have to state that I have an at fault accident for the next 5 years, which led to the write off of my car. This will also put my premium up for those 5 years. Let's guess at a total of about £300 for those 5 years.
That means that I'll be paying a total amount of £800, if I insure FC and then claim. And what would I get back from the insurance company? About £800, maybe £1000 max? IMO, not worth it.
It's all about balancing the risk - yes, now my car is worth £6000, I'm insured fully comp, but when it was so cheap to begin with, I take the risk that I won't have an at fault crash, and if I do, I have to buy another car and lose out on a max of about £300 over what I'd have got back as an insurance payout.

Yes, I would say TPF&F is only useful when your car is worth less than the annual insurance premium. I guess this has never been the case for me.

But my car wasn't worth less than my annual premium? For me to go FC, it would be a £600 premium on a £1000 car. It's the extra expense of claiming that was the deciding factor for me.

I'm amazed how expensive some of these quotes are.
My golf must be similar performance to a sport, I pay £600 FC - 22, 5yrs NCB. Paid £440 last year
