How cheap are these now

I'll be looking at getting one next year hopefully seeing as I can't afford an Astra VXR. So i've just been looking on AT at some and saw this -

Type R

I know a few people on here own them or have experiance with them. And seeing as I have none what so ever i'd like to know what they are like to live with? Plus, the performance side of things? 0-60 etc etc

I'm also surprised they're group 17 insurance!

Thanks.

if you buy cheap you will get a dog imo, mine was up for 5k which he wouldve been lucky to get as it was very tatty, sorted it quite a bit now. they are pretty easy to live with, boot is decent for a small hatch and they drive soooo well. maybe this is because ive had years of barges and vag boats?

i'd buy one tbh, i have kept my eye on them since the guy at work bought one when i got corrado, think he paid about £9k for it.

also he still has it 4yrs later and apart from some people crashing into him he has had no problems, although he did have to have a new clutch after he practiced pulling away in every gear and ruined it

i borrowed it for a weekend and wasn't too keen on the way it drove, but i reckon i would of got used to it after a week or so of driving

I'd rather spend a few extra quid and get a 54/55 plate. When did the facelift come out?

I'm looking at one as my next car & looking forward to it. Need to sell the Punto first though.

Plus, i'd like a bit more cash in my pocket for a decent one.

I paid too much for mine really, it was up for just under £8k at my old work it's an 03 which had just 28k on it when I bought it back in feb, full honda service history, imaculate condition, managed to blag 12 months tax, fresh mot and 2 wheel refurbs aswell

Efficiency wise I can manage about 300miles to £52 petrol, that's mixed some motorway and mainly country a roads

Used to get more before the gruppe m but only 30 miles

Everything tuning wise seems to be expensive aswell, paid £400 for an induction kit it is however reknowned as the best and new is over £700

It's a good everyday car, seats aren't too bad even for a chunky monkey like me, handles fantastically

Im pretty sure the standard bridgesrone re040's are the ones that came from factory and are just wearing out 38k later

That's not bad MPG for a 197bhp 2.0 tbf.

Am I right in thinking the 0-60mph is mid 6's? What do they do the 1/4 in?

I'll be looking forward to a full exhaust. No N/A car comes near for sound than Honda

Good car for the money. I had mine for 2 years and in that time the only mechanical thing that need replacing was a wheel bearing.

Good on petrol for what they are, spacious, easy to drive and despite what everyone says you don't have to rag the arse out of it to get anywhere.

If you're after a drivers car and looking at spending circa £6-7k I'd say get a late spec DC2 though

If you can't get insurance at 24 then you're doing something seriously wrong. I insured mine at 21 with Tesco then Churchill at 22, both for less than a grand.
