My mate just told me about a job he was doing in Lambourne which is famous for horses and the roughest council estates ever.

Anyway this house he was working in the first day he arrived the bathroom had a disco ball on the ceiling and in the bath were a load of ducks ffs after a few days things were getting weirder. My mate asked the young son where his grandad was, this boy no more than 8 came out with "he's down in the shed shagging the dogs" this kid not being old enough to be sarcastic.

Same day my mates uncle was up on the roof of the house doing something to the chimney, next thing he's under fire from a load of lads with air rifles

I dont get it either, used to be no big deal if you lived on one of the estates, you were just someone that needed some help. Nowadays you pretty much have to be a dickhead to get on one of these estates, I feel really bad for my fiance's mum who has lived in her house since she was born and has gradually seen it turn to shit

I'm not sure if we have this whole "council estate" culture where I live. I know Glasgow has a bit of that going on but the whole council estate kid thing is such a stereotype. I live in a council house, one of about 8 in my street and have done since I was born. The same.people have lived in thus street practically since they were built and council house living was the norm. It's a quiet street full of old people and we never get any hassle and everyone knows each other. Gradually over the years folk have bought their houses and my mum could easily afford to, but likes the street/people and its stupidly cheap! And I'm not the least bit ashamed of where I'm from.
