well since getting the escort i have now experienced welding, not done any myself, but stood there while a real man did it.

What i learnt.

-not to look at the light, kept on finding myself looking and then realising i shouldn't be and proceeding to run off, then 10mins later i would be back doing the same

-welding sounds like a chuck norris power sparkler

When I had something on the Corsa the guy did it without the protector and told me he had been doing it for years.

I loved it when we learnt it at college. Though 15 lads playing with welding equipment wasnt the best idea. Sure most of them still have the scars...

I'm shit hot at oxy acetylene, ok at arc and only had a quick go on MIG. Well, that was about 10 years ago. Probably couldnt do it nowadays but would love to give it a go.

all ways protect your piece when sitting down welding, that does hurt

Got burns and scars all over me.

People think its easy, and you can master it in 10 mins, but its takes absolutly years to be a good all around welder, with smooth constant welds, in a vairty of posistions etc

iam a pressure pipe welder, there isnt a welding process i cant do, any monkey can master mig welding in 10 mins just point and pull and thats about it! You will be fine around the arc, you get a flash (arc eye) from the side of your eye the most of the time, if the work piece is shiny like stainless, thats the worst to get arc eye from. If your welding a car your best to get some 1 who knows what there doing because might look fine but can crack or split if theres no pen.

Take it you're a coppermsith then mate? I worked for ClydeUnion and had a couple of months in the welding/ coppersmiths departments. Only got to try MMA and TIG, have you ever managed to electrocute yourself with the electrode in the TIG gun?

I did it when I was at college we built go karts as projects had to weld the frames and stuff. Mostly did mig which is easy and your not likely to get ar eye from it. Then did arc which is a badger to get the hang of the rod always sticks and makes an annoying noise so you feel a tit.. Only had arc eye once and fuck me I never want it again.. Had to stay in the shadows the next day was torture lookin at any form of light

You will master stainless easily enough if you can tig mild. (especially the low grades due to the similair properties). Its the ally that can be a pain! Not something you can really do at home unless you have a gas set to preheat!
