When you play the lottery do you just play lucky dip's? Or do you try and guess the numbers yourself?
I always go for lucky dip's, although im not sure i should

I play the same numbers for the Lotto draw everytime, but normally lucky dip the numbers for Euromillions.

I wrote a spreadsheet with every set of numbers in correct draw order from the first ever lottery; it predicted me 6 numbers and the order they would come out in based on a complex algorythm; anyway, suffice to say, they came out as 5 numbers and the bonus ball 6 weeks before I finished the spread sheet - True Dat!

You have just as much chance of winning with a ticket that says "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6" as you do of any other combination so it really doesnt matter.

quote: Some National Lottery players might think that the odds of having consecutive numbers drawn are bigger than the odds of having so-called unconnected numbers, but that isn’t the case. The odds of any combination of numbers being drawn in the Lotto game are always 1 in 13,983,816, and a sequence like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 is therefore just as likely as any other.
Of course, because of the way the human brain is wired by nature to recognise patterns wherever it encounters them, a sequence containing more than a couple of consecutive numbers is always going to catch our eye. It could even inspire a few players to change their approach and start entering numbers based on patterns rather than birthdays and anniversaries.

Also on a side note, has everyone seen the unclaimed prizes on the national lottery website!
http://www.national-lottery.co.uk/player/p/results/unclaimedPrizes.do
Safer to just play on the internet, cant lose the damn ticket then! Not that i ever win bugger all.

Get off your mathematical high horse, everyone knows you know the possibility of a 1,2,3,4,5,6 is the same as any other FFS
