What would you class as a decent performing diesel nowadays? (Under £20k)

Or tbh a tweaked Astra 1.9 150PS CDTi isn't bad either.

If we're only classing le mans cars that means most petrols aren't performance either.

The diesels mentioned in here will keep pace with most 'performance' petrols.

I agree with John here, diesels have such a bad reputation. For people who need to do lots of miles in great comfort and great speed, but also with great economy there really is nothing better than the BMW diesels - sales figures prove that

The silver one! 245bhp, 410ft/lb, will see of most petrols upto about 300bhp (has done more too!)

A 1.9 diesel without a turbo and about 70bhp is faster than a 150bhp one with loads of torque
