Nope, i've never been to a takeaway that takes card apart from restaurants that do takeaway service. Although i think it's down to the fact they can keep it off the books

Never known of any in Manchester taking them tbh, but then again it's not like your spending a fortune at a chippy is it so i can't see the need for it!
Hate being down south they don't do chippy's round here

think its because the charges they would charge would cost them a fortune.
Was a sign in the pub the other day saying that any amounts under £5 would incur a 50p charge.

Gotta say, if I had a cash business like that there's no way I'd bother with cards either.

Theres a chain in nottingham that takes card, they are shit though. Most local chippys don't as its too much hassle, extra fee's, etc

Who the fuck pays for a sausage supper with a bank card?
The main reason for it is the standing charges and the % the bank charges the chip shop for the use of the facility, most see it as a dent in their profits they don't need or want since the beginning of time folk pay for their chips with cash.
You'll probably find chip shops in London where a fish supper costs a mortgage repayment will take a card.
