In theory.
How hard.
I can weld, I understand what needs to go where.
Is it worth doing?
Would be easy if I didn't want it to be a road car.

engine in the rear or front?
both can be done relitively easy if you can think for your self and weld.
i think it could be worth it, it crosses my mind alot lol

some rear sprocket units you can buy have a gear near the sprocket, and use a starter motor to reverse,
or you get out and push.
or you buy an expensive dif with reverse so you can have 6 gears in reverse as well as forward.

Theres a conversion on some bike engines that is needed to replace the cush drive on the bike into the transmission on the car. Worth looking into it.

Engine would be in the rear, driving the rear wheels.
A hyabusa engine will have more than enough power

Would be entirely for fun and noise.
Nearest drag strip to me is around 150miles.
I'm not bothered about tracking or dragging it, thats why I want it road legal.

Whats all this about no torque , hayabusa engines have 98lb/f which is only 10lb/f less than a corsa gsi. If you have a bike engined corsa, it wouldn't be for commuting in traffic.

quaife do a reverse box, but the 6 reverse gears even quaife has to laugh as people think they do actually have 6 reverse gears....use them then destroy the boxes.
as for bike engined, i should of gone twin bikes, but you can get a drive box from here:
http://www.drdracing.co.uk/Drive_Box.php
http://www.berrisford.co.uk/index.php?cPath=46&osCsid=p34f1dpi1a0tbska825332cij6
if went twin bikes, i think berrisford charge £2,5k for a drive box to suit with reverse gear too.

As mentioned Its got peak power but not really enough low down torque to shift a corsa shell in an impressive manner.
Biggest issue would be building the drive train to the rear wheels while retaining a differential.

you gotta think too, even in a kit car thats sub 500kg, the bike engines still gonna feel the strain of however many times the kit car weighs compared to a bike. can do gearboxes in quite easily even at 500kg, so imagine how much strain would be on it in a corsa. just wouldnt be worth it

Do not do it mate, i have driven a Saxo with a bike engine in the back.
From what i read your saying you want it to be road legal, which the car would be a total nightmare to live with even as a toy. They are good as track cars as you can can weight right down with a good bit of power (when screaming the engine). As a drag car no use really for the amount of work; a XE Corsa would do a better time.
I would not do it, Plus for the price of a good bike engine you could buy a good car engine. I would fit a good powered car engine, alot more usable and quicker.
