Launched something on Friday, and got 9 subscribers (Text Service).
I need to send 2 texts per week to these people.
At the moment the list is something like this....
07912345678 | Subscribed 08/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 08/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 09/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 09/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 09/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 09/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 09/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 10/10/2010
07912345678 | Subscribed 11/10/2010
If I text the same number more than twice in a week, the whole thing will be shut down.
When more subscribe, what kind of system could I use or put in place to text them? Every Wednesday and Friday.
I cannot text the already subscribed members.
I'm hoping to have a couple of thousand subscribers by January, so need some form of proper system.
I thought there would have been a button or something in the back end system, to say who i've text and who I havn't. There isn't.
Any advice would be fantastic...
Thank You!

You not thought of just asking the provider? If anyone is going to know it's them.
My uncle has a fair few 0906 number's so I'll ask him if he know later for you

I've asked the provider, he's just said to keep track of it in an Excel Spreadsheet....
Far, far too time consuming though!
Thanks a lot mate.

I u2u'd Paul a While back, but he didn't get back to me.
If you can think of a way Dave, i'll certainly have a quote off you...

The annoying thing is the shortcode (the number they text) is with my text supplier, therefore I have to go through him for the next 12 months!

Couple of thousand subscribers would be a tidy weekly sum wouldn't it

Yes
Its been live since Friday 8pm, and I have 9 Subscribers, I have done absolutely no SEO on the site, so god know how they found it
2000 Subscribers - £3560 a week, I actually get 89p Per text, not £1.50.

Wow that's a pretty expensive service charge per text.
Still a tidy profit though if you can get the subscription's

I'm guessing you have no insider info and get whatever casting info you have off the net somewhere too?

My SMS host only gets 2p per text! I just pay for the rental of the keywords.
The rest goes to Service providers like Vodafone, o2, T Mobile etc!!

Nah, done the whole thing properly, given an agent friend 10% of the business, he sends me open auditions each week.
Also its taken 5 months to get approved by Pay Phone Plus.

Why's that? I assumed you just went to these companies, paid a setup fee, then away you went without much question

Mate, its an absolute nightmare.
I had 140 things to adjust on the website on the first report from them.
They took 6 weeks to come back, then they wanted wording changing.
Another 6 weeks passed, then they wanted written confirmation of the Agent.
Another 6 weeks passed, then I had to take things off the site Regarding youtube copyrights, had to make T'c &C's fucking massive, and had to change costing thanks to a new law that came in a few weeks ago.
Other nightmares along the way too, was close to fucking it off many times

I had to prove that the testimonials had all been to auditions too, which they have.
The agent helped me sort those out, "Barry from Llandudno" got onto BGT, the Whitfield one is coincidence before you say anything.

Look for a Bulk SMS provider, most of them offer subscription based services where they usually have a web app that deals with subscribing users and then allows you to push out bulk messages.
But it sounds like you're tied into to your current provider. I'm guessing your provider doesn't offer any form of subscription service and instead you have a web app that just lists messages from users? Do you have limits on the number of SMS's you can send with your provider?
Does your provider offer a developers API (usually a HTTP based API)? The API's tend to be fairly straight forward (from past experience doing web based SMS apps) , so you could probably develop something yourself.
Alternatively if your provider offers SMS to Email/Email to SMS then there are number of Outlook add-ons that deal with SMS, so it's then just a case of grouping subscribers and bulk sending that way.
Potentially you could also latch onto this SMS-Email service and develop something yourself around it if you don't have an API.

Did you have to pay the £300+VAT for that to payplus too?
