Even if the corsa is slower I still rather have that, never again buying a french car, ever.

I wouldn't know and will probably never find out, driving in a straight line isnt as much fun.

Bollocks, I dont care what anyone says a 1.6 sport isn't far off the straight line speed of a vts/gti a 2L will leave one.

My 1.6 sport got rapped by my mates 106 every day we went out. Also this was about 8 years ago when a 1.6 sport was quite new, not an old smokey one

XE will have it after about 80 in a straight line. That's the only performance aspect where it will win.

I raced a gti and he only just pulled a car length away.
Ive driven a VTS aswell and thought it was unimpressive.
But CS says I'm wrong so I wont carry on.

Having owned two 1.6s and one with a dblias inlet, manifold etc. I can assure it is not "bollocks" then owning a VTS 1.6 sports were no where near and XE's were level.

all drivers and cars being equal and in similar standard condition, they will be similar upto about 100 the XE should start to pull away a bit after that.

106 might be a bit quicker off the mark

Level to a certain point. A VTS/GTI will lose out after that thanks to the torque of the bigger motor.

My old 8 valve XSI(not the one I have now) used to hammer Corsa GSI's, a GTI would have no problems beating a sport unless it was a shit driver or the GTI was a dog. You'd be suprised just how quick they are, they're also a lot quicker in a lighter car
