They are serious cash, but thankfully, I do get a bit of discount, which makes it a bit more reasonable.

It will be a five door.
Still thinking about colour - Blue is the "R" colour - but I am not sold to be honest.

My mate has just ordered one of these. He's pickling it up in a few weeks, looking forward to having a go in it!

Not surprised.
I have driven a Mk6 GTi as well, as that was another consideration, but this was totally another level.
Really good, well put together car, that will serve as a good alrouder.
Although - I will really miss the Mk4 GTi in many ways

Quite expensive though if you're buyuing new.
I'd probably wait 12 months and get one with low mileage to save taking a massive hit.
Then again, I havn't driven it, so don't want it as badly as you!

Drive one - then it wont wait
I know totally what you are saying - but come later next year, it might not be possible, and probably my only chance for many years to actually to be able to buy a new car!

Golfs & A3's aren't that much cheaper when they are a year old than when they were new
White is pretty sweet actually

Yep the noise sold me a little too.
There has been a massive debate about Vw dropping the 6 pot, out of the R.
But this totally and utterly will blow the others out of the water.
I have driven a mk5 R32 as well to compare, and yes the noise is special, but the new R feels alot less front end heavy.
However in saying that - its very difficult to compare the two, one is a big lazy V6 and the other a high strung 2.0 turbo.
