If it squeaks then stops after a very short while or only when you are reving the engine then your fanbelt needs tightening or replacing.

On a Rover 25, 1.8 And a Clio 1.2 16v.
Is it literally just the case of a fanbelt Rob?
PS When are you down next? Wedding?

Mine does this I changed the drive belt but it still does it so I've got a bearing gone somewhere on it.

Funnily enough I was alongside an MG ZR with the loudest squeeling fanbelt this morning, even when he went off in the other direction you could hear it about 300m away

Aren't all saxo/106 electric power steering pumps? Lol
Most likely to be your alternator belt needs to be replaced or tension ed.

Could be anything by the sounds of it
My van does it, it's the alternator belt i think. Only does it when it's been pissing down though.

Its typically the auxiliary belt if it's a high pitched squeal, there's an old school method I know of, you take a candle an rub it on the belt whilst it's moving and the wax stops it from slipping

Itl be aux belt, connected to alternator and pas pump dependin whats it got. Try increasing the tension, if it wont go any further then itl be stretched likely and new belt is needed
