hi was wondering if anyone could tell me how or whats involved in getting a f28 6 speed gearbox to fit to an x16xe engine in a corsa b

whats the best gearbox to use?
just thought 6 speed would be good

Can't imagine the engine will ever produce enough power to pull in 6th, plus the box weighs a tonne!!

Have to alter the n/s mount and piss about with flywheels and clutch/pressure plates as they differ. Probably best to machine a flywheel to take the LET clutch plate and pressure plate?

Total waste of time to be honest.

what gearbox is best to use

after some short gears but still able to cruise on the motorway best i can compromise, is that a longer final drive? but shorter ratios?

I guess he means which gearbox is best to use on a X16XE.

I can't remember exactly, but I had an idea to fit a shorter final drive to help acceleration through the rev range, but then fit a longer 5th gear from one of the WR boxes. Never got round to it though

all gear are same to the f15/17 ratio appart the 6th gear and bellhouse is direct fit to the engine. you need to find what clutch to use or maybe swap flywheel.

guess ill stick with f15 then and get shorter ratios, anyone got a set up like this?

pretty sure the gear box on a 1.6 sport is an f15cr anyway

f28 on a x16xe o dear think the gearbox would be worth more than the eco-tec lump
