Out of interest, what is a rough price for having a set of wheels to be polished?

Living room floor Tom, was going to do them on the car but thought better of it.

I struggled to get anything finer than 600grit

What polish is finer, autoglym srp or autoglym ultra deep shine?

it won't be shiney with 600 grit.

on my manifold i went from 40grit to get the texture off, then all the way through to 1500grit, then polish.

really need non-marring cloths for it too to get a defect free shine without light whirling

autosol is great dont get me wrong and is perfect after using say 1500/2000 w&d but its still quite abrasive so a finer compound is needed to get a better result.. (the result you want after all those hours getting that far)

Finest I'll be going is 1500, then I need some decent, easily available polish (ie from the high street) to follow.

yeah true i went upto 2000 on my rocker cover then used autosol thought it looked well then showed it to my uncle who does wheel polishing and he said that it was actually quiet dull and i should use that ALU stuff and i couldnt believe the difference.

Yep, Halfords do 800, 1200 and 1500 grit I think. Not too cheap though, 4 sheets is about £4.00, or 15% off with a trade card IIRC.
