The HDI's need remapping but the D-Turbo can be tweaked with a few tools They're great on fuel though i used to get 100 miles to £10 in my D-Turbo.

These are the same engine as the Citroen Picasso HDi aren't they?
My dad had the HDi Picasso and it had about 200K on it and never went wrong. In all them miles there was never an engine fault, only thing that went was a drive shaft broke. It was used as a taxi. Was very good on fuel. Not much power in them though.

not sure bout the hdi, but i bought a 306 dturbo a week ago and its spot on! good mpg, good torque, easy to tune with a few tweaks of the boost n fuel n fit a fmic. hdi bit more complicated.

If you want reliability and mpg get the HDi they're best for it but more expensive to buy, you can pick up D-Turbos for £400 upwards depending on condition, decent ones go for about £1200+

Yeh you can.
With a stage 1 remap on a HDi your looking at 130ishbhp.
With straight through exhaust, bigger turbo, fmic and stage 2 remap your looking at 160+bhp. With few other bits and pieces you can reach 200ish. Obv that's quite excessive.
People don't rate the DTurbos because for a 1.9 TD engine, it's piss poor. 90bhp standard?? Gearbox's tend to be shitty in the DTurbos, clutches very heavy. But you can do a few things to make DTurbos very good and quick for a young lads car as insurance is cheap. HDi's cost more to buy but are roughly same insurance.

The Dturbo's have 92bhp from the 1.9 where as the Hdi only has 90bhp from the 2.0.
Dturbo can be pushed to 120bhp depending on the condition of the engine. And it costs fook all, just some time.

Spent quite some time looking for one for a bloke at work as a daily drive.
He had 2k and was looking at high mile early mk4 golf tdi's and the like, so I got him into these.
He's got a late Y reg moonstone blue HDi Meridian, all the toys, comfy, goes on forever on a tenner, slots into the £125 tax band and cost him £1500. Half leather and looks nice as well!
