Zizzi
flicking through the page as I am going there for our works Christmas do and came across the above page which states
quote: The amount of tip that you want to leave is between you and your waiter and it is their responsibility to ensure that they declare tips to the HM Revenue and Customs for tax purposes.
why would you need to declare tips to HMRC?? i have had tips in the past when i worked as a removal porter and even as drivers mate when doing deliveries for Habitat, i would have thought a tip is your own and not part of an income which is taxable?

Hate restaurant's who put a "service charge" on automatically, if i think your service was good enough, i will leave a tip, dont presume you deserve one. Cunts

It's taxable. If the place itself actually adds the service charge on automatically then they are also liable for the tax element of that as well.

This is true. Not something HMRC would ever attempt to follow up on TBH due to the scale of the problem, it's worth their while chasing businesses for tax instead.

As has already been said Tips through work are taxable and should be added to your income. But it's not something the HMRC can do you for really as it's usually cash in hand so very hard to persue.

Depends if you're stupid enough to pay it in your account. That way HMRC will easily see your money in is higher than what you're declaring.

Normally ask the waiter/waitress if they have to put in a staff tip pot or not if im gonna leave a decent tip.
Don't leave fuck all if they dont get to keep it all.
Not paying extra for some shit cunt to benefit.
