Well where do i start?. Me and my girlfriend where on our way to the cinema last nyt when this happend!

The marks on the bonnet!

The 'A' pillars i believe

The rear quarter.

The drivers side.

We where travelling down the dual carriage way (approx 50-55 mph) when a silver civic appeared at the slip road, i watched him come off and onto the first lane with his left indicator on, by this time i was roughly besides him and he then decieded to come over onto the second lane and forced me into the central reservation. I took out two road signs and about a million cones I eventully came to a stop sideways in the middle of the lane, the police rapidly appeared and so did an ambulance for my girlfriend who is 13 weeks pregnant! Everything got sorted pretty quickly with the civic driver ( by the way he was 83 years old ) accepting all liability.

I was just wondering when the insurance come out will they declare it a writeoff?? Or would they look into getting it repaired?

I managed to salvage some bits i can sell on tho

Many thanks in advance

what will happen is you'll be offered a valuation, say £3000 and then a portion of that will be the salvage value (they start at 20% usually) so you can either take the full £3000 and leave the car at the garage to be scrapped or £2400 and keep your car.
dont accept the first salvage value that can always be reduced, insurers get preferntial salvage rates so it may be worth more as scrap to them as it would be to you (i know youd be retaining it to strip it but the idea is the salvage value should only represent what you can get for it as scrap)

what engines in it?

honestly thats someones daughter in your car, and she is pregnant, just slow down a bit and give people room.

i never drive beside anyone unless we are doing crawling speeds in traffic.

just assume everyone is an idiot

i bet her parents aren't happy about this

tbh by the sounds of things he's had someone driving into him for no reason. I don't know how you manage to be on dual carraigeway/ motorway without driving beside someone, must take some skill. I wouldn't drive along side someone for any length of time, only fannies do that, but if someone's soming on from a slip road I'd give them at least the trust that they're not going to side swipe me.

yeah ive edited my post slightly. if the first valuation is reasonable then accept because if you dont you'll have to prove its worth more and they'll pull you out of any courtesy car youre in. but try and knock the salvage value down.

Give people room i was in the outside lane and he came across 3 lanes into me, he had more than enough room!

It was my girlfriend in the car and my unborn child i wasnt driving lyk an idiot at all i dont drive fast espesically with her being in.

The guy admitted it being his fault straight away to the police saying he didnt see me!

I think his age could be a major factor in this incident tbf!
