the engines are very good if maintained but the chassis and body rust heavily.
if its got 12 months mot it will be ok to smoke round for a year but it might cost alot come next time

well theres only a slight bit of rust on the drivers side rear arch, other than that its dead clean, been looked after. they only want 300 quid and i know them quite well. just a first van for a business until i can afford something better.

My dad's 1.8D was fantastic on diesel but slow. Not a complicated vehicle, just treat the rust sooner rather than later.

not sure if its a td or not, im going to have a thorough look over it tomorrow. as long as its good on fuel and can take weight in the back it'll be spot on. any common problems apart from the rust?

gearbox was the only thing that ever broke on ours.
as for weight it took a full vans worth of joiners tools no bother but one day i loaded it with brick and about crashed at the first corner i came to but i may have overloaded it tbh.

Those 1.8D engines are pretty good, I had a mk4 Fiesta with one in.
Clutch slave cylinders are a known weak point if it hasn't been changed. Trouble is it's mounted inside the bell housing, so if it goes, it's a gearbox out job.
Speed wise it's not bad, it's not gonna win any races, but it'll happily keep up with everyday traffic.
For £300 with a year's MOT I'd snap that right up.

used to have one, nad both sills replaced and boot floor welded.
Was ok as a runaround but was slow, couldnt pull your foreskin, rear door handle didnt work and stunk of diesel after i spilled a can in the back
Oh and the clutch traveled further than a boeing 747
cheap enough should be able to buy it and sell on after a year for similar money

I had one. It was dangerously slow, was quite scary pulling away at a busy roundabout!
Also, on most escort vans I've ever seen, when the brakes are pressed, different rear lights come on and go off. Electrics on them must be a bit funky
