Hi all.

Some of you know me already but this is my first time posting so apologies in advance if I do something wrong!

I've got a 1.3 CDTI corsa C and recently it's been having trouble firing up. Mainly when its damp or raining but the cold now isn't helping either. Leaving it for 20seconds then trying initially helped but now even this method can take 3 attempts.

Ian knows the car and we have threw some ideas around as to what it could be. But I'm welcome to suggestions as to what to try.

Anyone known this problem before?

Yer that was one idea given to me but not tried that yet because someone else said it could be air in the fuel system. Another suggested changing the spill pipes which can corrode or something???
Bit confused tbh cos I hadn't heard of them before

Change the glow plugs as it's a £20 20 min job.

It could indeed be drawing air into the fuel system (I had this on my old van but it was easy to spot as the fuel pipes in the engine bay were all cracked)

Were you at a Meet a few years back with Ste & Ian?

Yer I've been to a few meets and track days. I was engaged to Ste at the time.

Sounds like changing the plugs are my best option but I'll look at the pipes too. There was talk of an air fuel mix problem on it a while back at the engine management light is on so maybe the pipes are damaged

Baskey, where can I get plugs for £20? Most places are about £60 I think

Into google and click on the first eBay link, £23

I'd change the fuel filter at some point soon too. Be careful with changing glow plugs, they can snap in the head.

Glow Plugs, Leak off pipes, EGR valve. All 3 are common and can cause bad starting.

Yer. Even when I leave it for 20seconds or thereabouts it takes slightly longer than expected to fire up.

It's started on first try a few times today but I have been sat giving it half a minute after the warning lights go out before trying to avoid disappointment ha!
