I was driving along earlier and drove over a rock in the road at 30mph which contacted the underside of the car on the crossmember behind the engine, and set the passenger seat airbag off.

Needless to say my drivers seat is now brown....

Its an Audi A3 1.8T Sport 3 door on an S plate.

Airbag light is on (not that i need a small light on the dashboard to tell me my airbag has deployed), seat is ripped to hell, airbag is hanging out.

How could i claim for this?

Find a replacement seat job done or speak to a retrimmer/seat repair company who deal with this every day.

I did view a car once where they simply glued the side bolster back on

ECU won't reset until the airbag is sorted. Same code will keep throwing up unless you complete the circuit

Aye thats not a problem. Ill find a new seat and whack it in, then perform some witchcraft on the airbag light. (probably involving a hammer and screwdriver)

I did the same with the XE on some backroads, there were some rocks that looked like they had been dropped off the back of a tractor or something. I just heard a huge bang and then the oil light came on - cue me switching the engine off stright away and costing up to the start of someone's driveway with a hole the size of my fist in the sump

First thing i did was turn the engine off. I first though it had hit the sump. Got out and looked underneath and saw no evidence of a hole. Pushed the car back to see for any puddles and saw none. Bonus.

Picked up the rock, chucked it in the back of the car and drove off with the windows down to clear the smoke lol.

Lucky it didn't set off the drivers airbag, could have been dangerous!

I was thinking the same!

Pretty sure i had my hand on the centre of the steering wheel too.

Had that happen to a mate and snapped his thumb back on itself.

Vagcom will be able to reset your airbag light once its sorted. Didnt the airbag on the dash go off or do they not have one?

My dad was reversing the car down the driveway one morning, just about to leave for work. He's sat there bleary eyed, started the engine, stuck it into R and fucking BOOM the drivers' door airbag went off on him. Needless to say he just about had kittens
