What is their solution if you don't drive?
Also, does your insurance cover you to do business miles?

If I'm being honest I wouldn't be overly fussed, 25 miles isnt a long journey, especially if it's just a one off.

in our work they work on 19miles radial, anything over that distance you get the price of a 2nd train fare.
otherwise its 43p a mile
Make sure you have business class 1 on otherwise you are just insured to drive to and from work.
21p a mile just about covers fuel, think about getting a chipped windscreen or something the journey will end up costing you.
I would say carnt use the car for insurance reasons, get them to hire you one.

the government limit is set to 40pence per mile. If your company offers you less you can get tax relief on it.
Like for example if i do 10k miles in a year i get 11ppm
10000 * .11 = 1100
The difference of the goverment standard 40 - 11 that the company gives
10000 * .29 = 2900 - 1100 = 1800 back when tax gets done

We get 25p which is shit, didn't know about the tax relief but since we don't have petty cash to pay for the mileage I may benefit if I use my car a bit more. A mate of mine gets 55p per mile and he worked it out that he males a hello of a lot of money driving his 106 derv pointlessly around

Depends on the type of mileage you are doing for us.
If you're doing training they pay 20p per mile, chargeable jobs are 55p, but we only get paid 40p.

I get 38ppm. Do about 1000 miles a month. With the Audi doing a minimum of 40mpg I do quite well off it!
Also if you get less then 40p you can get a tax refund on the difference.

our place used to 40p a mile
Now people without access to cpmpnay cars must rent cars as alot of people were driving without business insurance
Opt out people get 22p a mile
Also get 5p/mile for passengers

My car falls into the top band for payment by under 50cc, I'm a lucky bar-stweard. Travelling round to other schools in the area I get quite a bit as well!

there is a lot of truth in this. My Dad works for Thames Water and often driving to and from London. with the increase in fuel prices three years ago or more which have stayed £1.00/litre or higher he has asked if the mileage rate will match the increase but the official response came back saying it couldn't be any higher for tax reasons......
