For not clearing snow off the roof and bonnet?

A lad I know has it as his facebook status but I can't tell if he's taking the piss or not

It can't be real surely?

Edit:

Quick look on google and it seems to be on a few other forums too

What's the code going to be? Sn0?

I've been sent a couple of texts, must be an internet geek viral thing.

If they attempted to fine me for having snow on my roof I'd laugh in their face and drive away. Seriously.

I've never seen anyone clear the snow off their roof or bonnet.

Aslong as the windows and lights are clear i can't see there being a problem

Yeah i heard this today. My gf's cousin is a copper and he was telling us about it. Its because it can cause an accident if it slide off the roof and onto the windscreen. I said they cant do that but then this afternoon when i was out, there was a woman stopped in the middle of the road wiping it off because it had done that exact thing!

last year i left the snow on my roof, when i was going down the road and went to slow for traffic. i obviously braked and the snow came down the screen and stopped the wipers dead! was a scary moment. goodjob i knew there wasnt any parked cars so i just pulled over. jammy dodger!

I actually thought about this the other day, as I was driving behind someone when a huge amount of snow came flying off the roof and landed right infront of my car. I guess if it was hard ice and it hit someone's bonnet/light then it could cause some damage. However they shouldn't be travelling so close behind that it hits their car.

I were on my bike this morning, going down a dual carrageway doing 60mph and a lump of ice flow over the car in front and hit me, i were quite a distance from the car infront too, its dangerous so can see why theyre doing it tbh :-)

Isn't it classed as driving without due care and attention?

Bullshit TBH.

Police would only have an issue if all your windows/lights were completely covered in snow, but then that wouldn't happen as you wouldn't be able to see where you were driving.

I think its right the fine you, the amount of people driving round here with about a foot on the roof is ridiculus.

Tbh it's been a law for along time,
I always brush my roof, bonnet and boot,
You people who don't piss me off, as the constant spray really pisses me off,

And it's because the snow turns to a block of ice, and if that comes off can easily go through the person behinds windscreen at 70 etc.

Tbh, if your too fucking lazy to remove all the snow off you car, your too lazy to be driving around on the snow.

It takes and extra 5 minutes to give it a quick wipe over with a brush.

So I'm glad they are fining people for it

Saw loads of cars with their headlights still snowed up and side windows and still driving about.

If you don't clear the snow from your roof, what happens when you brake at say 70, and it slides over the windscreen completely blocking your view?

Wipers are not strong enough to move the snow.

Forth 1.
Was listening to the radio on my alarm clock whilst reading through this thread.
And it was when they were giving updates on closers, accidents etc they mentioned it.
