Went in to a local cheap place to get my tracking done (£17)

Had my new tyres with me so got them fitted too, my mates car went on the ramps and they said they cant do the tracking

My tyres get finished and I go in to pay, guy says £40

I was like what the fuck

A thought it was £5 a wheel like everywhere else

Cocky bastard replies with you should have asked

Then tracking at national cost £28

so instead of the £37 I planned on spending its cost me £68

£15 each around here :/ - scandalous considering its 5mins per wheel, load of balls for not buying tyres from them i guess, but what do you expect when they charge such a markup on tyres

If business's charged for the actual time taken then they wouldn't make money.
Think about the overheads.
If it was a guy pocketing the cash then fair enough to have a moan

£15 a tyre is extortionate, £5 a tyre is fair..

£5 a tyre isn't worth it for the garage, assuming its fitted, new valve and balanced. Risk scratching the wheels just to do a cheap job as a favour.

Nowhere round here will do it for less than £12 a wheel, and that's cash. If it's all invoiced and legit then it's usually over £20 per wheel.

I'd like to see some people on here actually try and run a business. They would go down quicker than Lawrah on Steve.

Kwik fit wanted £40 to fit two tyres. Told him he was dreaming. Prices for mounting only have shot up though. They mist lose heaps of business to the Internet now!

My local place used to charge 5quid a wheel if i removed them and left the wheels/tyres with them.
Put his price up to 10quid though as he said its not worth the risk or hassle doing it for a 5er.

Always tells me before hand too that it might mark the rim.Never does though.

Or the local Kwik Fit on a sunday charge not much as i think it goes in his pocket.
