and now none of my electrics work, powersteering, dials?

first thing to do is check all the fuses, im sure ive read theres one fuse that controls quite a bit of stuff
then do a paperclip test

You can't do paperclip test on a 1.2 iirc.
Check fuses as said, could well be a earth or a epic wire fault/short.
