What do you guys think?

Got a 04/54 Clio 182, 76k.

Its costing me too much to insure, been offered a 106 GTi and a fair amount of cash, its a 2000 V plate, with same mileage as mine

Would you do it?

Its a hell of a lot cheaper to insure, also im after doing more track days next year, so cheaper for parts/tyres etc.

The 106 is well specced, and a set of cams should see it about the 150+ mark, plenty enough imo.

Tell me its the right thing to do

I don't see why not. You'll be better off and with what is classed a quick car with said mods. Just get a spare box chucked in with the deal

been a while since ive looked at them but is the clio worth about £5k? 106 as standard would be worth about £2-2.5k?

dont see why not, clio is a good car...but your going to have alot of fun in a gti on track aswe, with dosh in your pocket also...dont rush into it, have a good look at the gti first.

Don't want to put pics etc up to jynx it. Spec is full stainless with decat. Forced induction. Rallye box and racing clutch. Guess a set of cams would see it to 150ish. Then it's still got full half leather etc for comfort. Off to see it at weekend so hope all is well.

could get 150, maybe a little more with a map. manifold could hold it back if its still standard

Yep, with a decent manifold it would be closer to 150, would be as much fun as you clio imo.
