Help, just a quick question as i was on the motorway today doing just under 80 and its showing just over 4500RPM .... eating the petral like no tommorow !!! is this right ???

If you saw it was a typo ..... but yes its 4500RPM at the mo and takes about a 50 pound full tank in about 300 miles.

Sounds a little high, my 1.2 16v on a W reg used to do about 3500 at 70, 4000 at 80, used to drink when I went over 4000 (85+)

The car should be doing the speed divided by 2 if you are in 5th, or there abouts.
So if you are doing 70 you should be doing about 3500 revs.
Thats how it should be on most cars apparently
so 20mph in 5th should be 1000 rpm, and so on and so forth
Its alright spot on in mine

£50 for 300 miles in a 1.2 corsa
My 2.5L petrol does 300miles to £60.

Pow - I did put in most cars apparently.

Also, this is what my driving instructor told me when I learnt and its always been right so far.
I stand corrected with newer cars.

Yes its around 50 pound for a full tank and i get 300 miles out of it before the light comes on 320 if im lucky.

Depends on the displacement, fuel type, gearing (4, 5 or 6 speed) matey
